Emergency lighting testing

Any business with five or more employees, and any premises where the public may be at risk (such as hotels, restaurants etc) must comply with the Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997.

To continue to comply with the Regulations you will need to undertake regular, documented tests and inspections of your emergency lighting system, to make sure that it is fully functioning. Failure to keep your fire alarm system in working order could lead to enforcement notices from the local Fire Brigade, which has the authority to close any building that fails to meet the Regulations.
